An Iowa woman has been arrested after authorities say she tried to cause a pregnant woman to miscarry by delivering a pan of lasagna laced with oxycodone.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office in Decorah, Iowa, identified the suspect as 36-year-old Amber Dena Snow, who was taken into custody on Mar. 10, 2026.
Deputies allege Snow dropped off a "family size" pan of lasagna at a residence on Dec. 28, 2025, and that testing later found the dish contained oxycodone, a prescription opioid classified as a schedule II controlled substance. Investigators say they believe the lasagna was intended to harm a pregnant member of the household, according to People.
The sheriff's office said it was contacted in January after concerns were raised that the food might have been tampered with. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation tested samples from the pan and confirmed the presence of oxycodone.
Officials told People that the pregnant woman and her baby are safe but declined to say whether she ate any of the lasagna, citing the active investigation.

According to court documents, Snow allegedly worked with another person to develop a plan to end the pregnancy, Crime Online reported.
Investigators say they found electronic messages and internet searches that appear to outline efforts to obtain drugs and use them in food given to the victim's family. Records also state that Snow shares a child with a relative of the pregnant woman, and that the child was aware the lasagna was meant to cause harm and objected to the plan.
Snow is charged with attempted non-consensual termination of a human pregnancy, several counts of administering a harmful substance, child endangerment, and a controlled substance violation.
She is being held at the Winneshiek County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Authorities say the case remains under investigation and that additional arrests or charges are possible as they review digital evidence and lab results, as per National Today.
