A Tennessee woman shot and killed her family before turning the gun on herself, according to authorities.
Heather Thompson, 32, allegedly shot and killed her two sons, 13-year-old Isiah Thompson and 4-year-old Arius Thompson, and her 88-year-old grandmother, Evelyn Johnson, before shooting herself, WKRN-2 reported.
The station reported that police were called to conduct a welfare check and found the bodies on Friday morning.
"Here again, small town America. Here again, I know the families. So, we're going to do right by them," Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis told WSMV-4 during a press conference. "We're going to respect them. We're going to do right by them."
Authorities have not said what the motive for the shooting might have been.
According to WKRN-2, Thompson was estranged from the father of her sons at the time of the shooting. The station also reported that investigators had found no previous history of domestic violence or mental illness associated with the family.
The boys' father created a GoFundMe page asking for donations as he plans to have their remains brought to New Mexico for funeral services.
"As a father it hurt and shattered my soul to hear my sons, Arius(Ari) and Isaiah have been taken from me and are no longer with us. They were just babies. Every second of today i wish i could just wake up. The Funeral services haven't been arranged yet but I plan on bringing my sons back to New Mexico from Tennessee. So I'm asking for assistance, anything helps brings my sons closer to home and me," Biah Thomspon wrote in a Facebook post.
