Police say they are racing against time to save TODAY show host's Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who they say was possibly abducted from her home.
The TODAY show reported that Nancy Guthrie was last seen near her Tucson, Arizona, home on January 31. She was reported missing by her family around noon on February 1.
Police told TODAY that although Guthrie had no cognitive issues, she did have some physical issues. "She is very limited in her mobility, we know she didn't just walk out of there, that we know," Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said. "There were other things at the scene that indicate that she did not leave on her own."
In a February 2 press conference, the sheriff told reporters that Guthrie is dependent on medication she takes daily, making it imperative that police find her.
They also described Guthrie's home as a crime scene, adding that police knew that "she didn't just walk out of there."
In an Instagram post, Savannah Guthrie, 54, addressed her mother's disappearance, writing "we believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him."
She thanked people for "lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment. we need you. "
