Utah police say they have video of the person who assassinated conservative commentator Charlie Kirk at an event on Wednesday.

In a press conference, police said that through witness statements and video, they were able to track the movements of Kirk's killer. Authorities said the suspect arrived on campus around 11:52 a.m.

Police said that they were able to identify that the suspect arrived off campus and then proceeded on campus to the Kirk event at Utah Valley University. According to authorities, they had footage of the suspect in the stairwells heading up to the roof. They also said that after the shooting, the suspect ran to the other side of the building, jumped off the roof, and headed into a nearby neighborhood.

Kirk, 31, was the founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative organization that focused on reaching out to young people on college campuses. Kirk founded the organization when he was 18 and was considered a political ally to President Donald Trump.

Kirk was shot at about 12:20 p.m. local time. Video from the shooting that circulated on social media showed Kirk struck in the neck by a bullet, slumping to his left and going limp. In the aftermath of the shooting, the crowd of several thousand scattered in a panic.

Police initially said they had a suspect in custody, but that person was later determined to not have been involved in the shooting. Another person was questioned by authorities but that person was released and is not considered a suspect.

Police also announced that they found a bolt-action rifle from a wooded area near the UVU campus, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

The newspaper reported the police also have said they have some good images and video of the suspect but are not yet releasing the information to the public. The newspaper reported that the authorities described the suspect as college-age.
