A Kentucky mom charged in the death of her 10-year-old son coached his siblings on what to say to authorities after causing his death with sleeping medication, according to reports.
Felicia Gross, 33, of Jackson, faces several charges, including second-degree manslaughter and abuse of a corpse. Fox 56 reported that an arrest citation provided new details as to what happened to Jayden Spicer.
Spicer was reported missing Aug. 6 and was found in a shallow grave about 20 miles from his home this week.
Six days after reporting he son missing, Gross admitted to authorities that she gave him sleeping medication that caused a medical emergency and his death, Fox 56 reported. She also told authorities where Spicer's body was.
According to WKYT authorities also learned that the siblinges they had interviewed regarding Spicer's reported disappearance had been coached by Gross.
"I don't see how a parent could react in that manner or fail to react and not get their child help," said Jeff Turner, who created the reward for Jayden's return home, according to WKYT.
An obituary for Spicer states that he had been raised by his grandmother until May, when she passed away.
"He loved life with a joyful spirit that touched everyone around him. Jayden enjoyed playing Fortnite and Roblox, was a big fan of Spider-Man, and spent countless hours playing outside—throwing rocks, riding the four-wheeler, jumping on the trampoline, and playing soccer, basketball, and baseball," the obituary states.
Fox 56 reported that this is not Gross's first encounter with law enforcement. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in 2017. She was arrested twice in 2020 on drug and gun charges, the station reported.
