A Belarusian man was charged with attempted murder of a child following an attack at a Moscow airport.

An Iranian toddler regained consciousness after being slammed headfirst into the ground by a man at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.

Vladimir Vitkov, 31, of Belarus, was captured on surveillance video lingering near the 2-year-old boy, who was playing with a suitcase while his pregnant mother retrieved a stroller nearby. Vitkov looked around before suddenly picking up the child and slamming him to the concrete floor, NDTV reported.

A passerby quickly scooped up the toddler's limp body and rushed to get help. Vitkov, seen backing away before throwing himself to the ground, was later found to be under the influence of drugs, according to police.

The child suffered a skull fracture, spinal injuries and hematomas, Al Jazeera reported. He has since woken from a coma and is in stable condition. Fortunately, he suffered no brain damage.

Vitkov was arrested and charged with attempted murder of a child. Authorities say he has not provided a motive and remains in Russian police custody.
