A California man is facing a murder charge after allegedly throwing his girlfriend off a third-story balcony during a heated altercation.
The victim, 61-year-old Irene Williams, and the suspect, 57-year-old Albert Turner, were reportedly in a relationship and got into a dispute inside Williams' apartment, according to Fox 5 San Diego. The fight reportedly escalated when Williams began tossing Turner's belongings over the edge of the balcony.
On May 13 at approximately 7:21 p.m., San Diego Police responded to the apartment after receiving reports that a woman had been thrown from a building.
Officers arrived to reportedly find Williams lying in the courtyard with a fractured femur and critical head injuries. Turner was still on the scene and was taken into custody after multiple witnesses described him as the person who allegedly threw Williams from the balcony.
Williams was transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Turner was booked into county jail and charged with murder. Police say no other suspects are being sought in the case.
The San Diego County District Attorney's Office is expected to move forward with prosecution as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the domestic dispute. Authorities have not confirmed whether there was a history of prior violence between the two.
