Two Texas teens face murder charges after spraying an apartment with 84 bullets to kill a perceived romantic rival.

The teens ended up missing their target, instead killing the wrong person, the Houston Chronicle reported. The teens opened fire with an AK-47, killing 41-year-old Marcos Cotto Torres and injuring another man. The intended target was an 18-year-old man who the teens thought was involved with one of their girlfriends.

Christopher Portillo Luna, 17, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Fernando Amaya, 17, faces the same charges and also is charged with aggravated assault of a family member, police said.

Police were called following the shooting and found Torres dead inside the apartment. Another man was found wounded just outside of it.

According to the Chronicle, the motive for the shooting was jealousy, as Amaya believed an 18-year-old man who lived at the apartment was involved with his girlfriend. The newspaper reported that their were at least four other people in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

The newspaper quoted court documents as stating that Amaya had also threatened to kill his girlfriend and himself prior to the shooting.
