The survivor of a deadly Oklahoma home invasion said she intends to watch the man who attacked her and another woman die, hoping that it will bring closure and that she will "never think of him again."

Nearly 20 years ago Dreu Kopf was with her close friend Amber Matthews when Wendell Arden Grissom forced his way inside and attacked them. Matthews was killed, while Kopf survived a gunshot to the head, USA TODAY reported.

Grissom now faces death by lethal injection for his crimes. Kopf plans to watch the execution with her now-grown daughters who are 19 and 20. At the time of the attack, the girls were 5 weeks and 19 months. The older child was asleep in a room at the time of the attack, USA TODAY reported.

Grissom picked the house at random, shot his way inside, shot Kopf, and then chased Matthews, who ran for safety while carrying the 5-week-old. He would eventually kill Matthews, the newspaper reported.

"I have to forgive this guy, or Grissom is going to ride on my shoulder the rest of my life and control the rest of my life," Kopf told USA TODAY. "Amber is always going to be 6 feet under, and I will always be the girl that got shot. I'm probably going to always be nervous and scared. It's taken 20 years of my life that I've had to deal with him. It's a rollercoaster."
