A British teen was connected to "a spree of offending" after police connected a dog poop footprint left behind at the scene of the crime to his shoe, according to a report.
Brian Harold spent one night in August 2024 attempting to break into homes, stealing garden furniture and robbing vehicles, the BBC reported. Police connected Harold and an accomplice to the crime spree after a couple found a poop print on their window sill, which also had a chair under it.
"On the window sill there was a footprint in that dog feces which police subsequently examined and found it to be a match to footwear worn by Mr. Harold," Prosecutor Gerard Rogerson told the BBC.
The couple also found dog poop markings around their home in Belle Vue, an area in Manchester, England.
"This was, in essence, a spree of offending," Rogerson added.
Harold, then aged 19, was sentenced for multiple charges, including attempted burglary of a family's home. He pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, three counts of theft and three offences of vehicle interference.
To complete his sentence, the BBC reported Harold will complete a building choices course, rehabilitation work and 150 hours of community service.
