A Texas husband who tried to keep his wife from running away before she vanished is now behind bars and described as being "uncooperative," according to court documents.

Suzanne Clark Simpson, a mother of four, disappeared without a trace earlier this week. She was reportedly last seen on Sunday at approximately 11 p.m.

Her husband, Brand Chandler Simpson, 53, stands accused of one count each of assault causing bodily injury to a family member and unlawful restraint.

He was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by Kendall County Sheriff's Office deputies; however, during a press conference that same day, Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas stated Simpson is not considered a suspect in his wife's disappearance.

Villegas explained there was an alleged disturbance between the couple the night Suzanne went missing and that it took place at a club called The Argyle, a neighborhood situated in one of the more affluent areas of Olmos Park.

Law enforcement was unaware of the altercation until Simpson reported his wife missing roughly 24 hours later. The police chief revealed there were indications, including witness statements, that things became physical between the two while out and then later at home.

Authorities attempted to make an appointment for a follow up with Simpson, but "he didn't keep that appointment," revealed the chief.

"So, he's been uncooperative with that," he added.

Simpson was arrested on two warrants out of Bexar County on an access road off Interstate 10 East, reported KSAT.

A neighbor told law enforcement officials that sometime between 10 and 11 p.m. on Sunday evening, he heard loud arguing outside his bedroom window, per the arrest warrant affidavit.

When he looked outside, he said he saw the Simpsons engaged in a physical argument.

Suzanne was allegedly trying to get away from her husband, but Simpson "was clearly attempting to keep Ms. Simpson from running away."

The neighbor went on to tell authorities that he then saw them walking westward before he heard several screams coming from a wooded area nearby.

An hour later, Simpson was reportedly seen leaving his home in a black GMC pickup truck and returning a few hours later.

Simpson states that on Monday afternoon, he realized his wife had been missing following a call from the school alerting him that Suzanne had failed to pick up one of their children.

The following day, school staff told police that the couple's daughter had said her parents were fighting and that her father had given her mother a bruise on the elbow before taking away her phone.

Furthermore, during the press conference, Villegas revealed "articles of interest" were recovered from the nearby woods.

The investigation remains ongoing.
