A New Mexico woman allegedly went to brutal lengths to steal from her older roommate, authorities say—beating him to extract his bank codes before leaving him dead in his apartment in a twisted plot to steal his Social Security payment.

Jasmine Trujillo, 30, is charged with an open count of murder and aggravated burglary in the April 2023 death of Larry Norsworthy, 60.

A warrant has been issued for the second suspect, Jarrett Chacon, 26.

On April 4, 2023, the Albuquerque Police Department responded to reports of a death around 12:30pm.

When arriving at the scene, a man told authorities that he had found his father, Norsworthy, dead on the bathroom floor.

The Office of the Medical Investigators initially said it was an unattended death before later calling it a homicide due to blunt trauma to the chest.

In the complaint, Norsworthy's son says he saw a man with a woman—later identified as Trujillo and Chacon—inside his dad's SUV and that they immediately fled once spotted, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Police report that on April 2, Norsworthy told officials Trujillo had stolen his SUV.

That same day, an individual came forward to reveal Trujillo said that because Norsworthy had changed the codes to his phone app, she and Chacon were going to go into the victim's apartment "and beat his bank codes out of him so they could steal his Social Security payment."

Furthermore, on April 3, Norsworthy's neighbor told police he was woken up by "a loud crashing noise" coming from the victim's apartment. Norsworthy could allegedly be heard saying, "Get off me, damn, get off me, damn," before the neighbor witnessed two people leaving the apartment.

During a 2023 interview with Trujillo at Metropolitan Detention Center, police said she told them she did not kill Norsworthy and tried to pin the crime on Chacon who "must have done it and not told her about it."
