Alaska Serial Killer: Israel Keyes May Be Tied to 11 Slayings; FBI Releases Interactive Map of Travels (Video)

Israel Keyes, a serial killer in Alaska, may be linked to 11 killings, and may have possible ties to even more slayings, according to federal agents, as reported by CNN. Keyes committed suicide in December 2012, after police say he confessed to at least seven murders nationwide, which extended from Vermont to Washington state.

Keyes' travels abroad in Canada, Mexico and Belize have officials believing he may have committed more homicides.

He lived in upstate New York at one point and "reported several trips to Montreal in which he sought out prostitutes" and drove through western Canada on his way to Alaska, where he lived before his arrest, CNN also reported.

The FBI released a detailed interactive map of his travels, which date back to 1997, in hopes of seeking additional tips.

One Anchorage policeman described Keyes a serial killer, hunting, victims in locations seen as remote, such as in parks, hiking trails and campgrounds.

Before killing himself by slitting one of his wrists and strangling himself with bed sheets, Keyes left behind a 4-page note where he did not express any remorse for his killing, nor did he offer any kind of clues to other killings.

He had "a meticulous and organized approach to his crimes," investigators said. Keyes admitted to robbing banks -two holdups were corroborated by investigators- to finance his travels.

The FBI has asked the public for help in identifying Keyes' victims.
