An Indian court sentenced four men to the death penalty for the gang rape and murder of a student in the capital New Dehli. The four men were all found guilty on all counts earlier this week, in a case which led to violent protests throughout India. New laws against rape were also implemented due to the protests.
California's legislature approved a bill that will boost the state's minimum wage to $10 an hour by 2016. Governor Jerry Brown said he would sign the measure, which is expected to raise the current $8 minimum wage to $9 an hour next July and $10 by January 1, 2016.
A fast moving fire raged through two New Jersey beach towns on Thursday, reducing dozens of business along the boardwalk to rubble, Reuters reported. Flames erupted at a frozen custard stand in Seaside Park on Thursday afternoon, and blazed out of control for hours.
"The 2000 Bronze is back in possession of usolympics and will be in Switzerland asap to Olympics," disgraced 7-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong wrote on Twitter. In early 2013, the committee stripped Armstrong of the medal he won in Sydney and asked him to return it.
