Laquita Spears, 48 Milwaukee County Sheriff

A Wisconsin woman allegedly set an apartment building on fire after she was told to leave by her father.

Laquita Spears, 48, was charged with arson after her father said that she set a couch and a coat on fire with a Bic lighter and screamed "Burn mot-------er burn!", according to a police report of the incident.

First responders were called to the apartment building around 1:36 p.m. on January 13. Although the fire was extinguished, several apartments in the building were damaged to the fire, smoke, and water.

Authorities reported that some people had to be saved with ladders, as they were hanging out of windows to escape the fire and smoke.

Police spoke with Spears' father, who told them that two weeks ago she had been kicked out of a shelter and had come to stay with him. Over the course of those two weeks, the man noticed that Spears was talking to herself almost constantly.

Then, on January 13, the man told police that she began screaming at him and "not making any sense," according to the police report. Specifically she was yelling about $5 and whether it was lent to her by another family member.

The man told Spears that she could no longer stay with him, and she began screaming and swearing at him, the report states. When she did not stop, he went to call the police.

The man then saw that his couch was on fire and saw Spears walking from the front room towards the apartment door holding a red Bic lighter and yelling "burn mot-------er, burn!" as she walked out the front door.
