A Florida therapist was stabbed to death in her office by a former patient after the woman refused to see the man.
Fox News reported that Rebecca White, 44, an Orange County Licensed Mental Health Counselor, was just finishing a session with another patient when Michael Smith, 39, demanded to speak with her.
The network reported that Smith entered the office around 9 p.m. on January 19, and that White asked him to leave.
WFTV-9 reported that Smith pulled out a knife and attacked White. White's patient attempted to intervene and was also stabbed in the attack. The patient then called the police. White died from her wounds, but the patient, described as a man in his 30s, survived the attack.
The next day, on January 20, police found Smith's body around 7:45 a.m. WFTV-9 said police believe he had killed himself.
WESH-2 reported that there was a large gathering in the office building at the time of the attack. Witnesses described a chaotic scene to the station in the aftermath of the assault.
"I looked through the glass door, and I could see a big man with a red hoodie on and a woman next to him with a white shirt on, and I couldn't see what was really going on," a woman at the scene told WESH-2. "They were just standing there, and then I saw all the cops coming, they were flying each way. And then going behind the building."
