A suicidal British woman who traveled to Florida planning to be murdered by a man she met via a fetish website was found dead in a shallow grave.

Sonia Exelby was reported missing by her family after she missed her return flight on Oct. 13. She was found dead on Oct. 17, and investigators found evidence on her computer that she was "suicidal and traveling to the United States to be sexually abused, tortured, and possibly murdered," PEOPLE reported.

Dwain Hall, 53, of Ocala, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping. Hall already was in jail related to the fraudulent use of Exelby's credit cards.

During an interview with police, Hall would not say if he had killed Exelby, but told authorities, "she's happy now because she got what she wanted," PEOPLE reported.

The outlet reported that the arrest affidavit states that British authorities also found evidence of a suicidal letter. PEOPLE reported that the letter states she likely would be "mutilated and disabled for the rest of my life" if she could "manage to get to him."

According to WFTV-9 Hall told police he had met Exelby on a fetish website about two years ago. The station reported that Hall told investigators that he had a "mentor-type relationship" with Exelby and they had discussed "bondage, suicide and her desire to have someone kill her."

PEOPLE reported that Exelby began expressing reservations to friends once she was in Florida. "He made it clear there was no way out unless I shoot him. I was questioning it last night. I can't kill anyone," she wrote to a friend, according to PEOPLE.
