Wisconsin Husband Saw Man He Thought Was Sleeping With His Ex-Wife At a Bar. Then He Pulled Out His Knife

A Wisconsin man allegedly attacked a man with a knife on Halloween night because he thought he was sleeping with his ex-wife.

Robert Goodletson, 47, of Green Bay, was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon, the Green Bay Press Gazette reported.

The incident happened inside a State Street bar around 8:46 p.m. According to the newspaper, the victim and Goodletson's ex-wife, who the victim described as a friend, entered the bar. When Goodletson sas them he began yelling in there direction and the victim walked over to him. The victim told police that Goodletson grabbed him and a struggle ensued.

The man was able to get away from Goodletson and went outside where he realized he was bleeding. The newspaper reported the man had deep stab wounds on the left side of his body and a gash on his head.

The newspaper reported that Goodletson told police he was sorry for "what he had made us go through." He then told police that the victim was having a relationship with his wife, and that police "were lucky that he didn't kill the guy."

The newspaper reported that video footage appeared to show Goodletson take out his knife, step toward the victim, and push the victim against the wall as a struggle ensued.

Goodletson made his initial appearance in court Nov. 4, according to court records. He is in custody at the Brown County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
