Georgia Man Accused of Stabbing 'Angel' Teen in Walmart Over Petty Dispute Stabbed Woman Years Before

A Georgia teenager was stabbed to death inside Walmart by a man on probation for another stabbing in 2021.

J.T. Schroeder, 18, was stabbed to death during an altercation at Walmart on October 23. Delano Middleton, 48 was charged with murder in the incident, PEOPLE reported.

According to WJCL 22, Middleton was on probation at the time for a 2021 stabbing he committed at a U-Haul facility. The station reported that in that incident, Middleton pulled out a 6-inch foldable knife and attacked the a woman who was the manager of the facility. Middleton served two years in prison was released in December 2023.

Chatham County Police said that in the incident at Walmart that Schroeder had kicked Middleton's shopping cart as he exited, PEOPLE reported.

However, Schroeder's father, also named J.T. told WJCL that he did not believe his son initiated the incident. "My son was never, ever confrontational unless he was confronted first," he said.

After being called about what happened, he told WJCL that he rushed to the scene. "I got over there as fast as I could and saw blood everywhere," he told WJCL. "He was literally stabbed over ten times until he finally bled out and died."

A GoFundMe has been setup for the family. It described J.T. as "An Angel on Earth , now an Angel in Heaven."
