A Chicago high school security guard is charged with sexually assaulting two students in her home while her husband was suffering from colon cancer, according to reports.
Heather L. Pancer, 48, of Hammond, Indiana, is alleged to have assaulted two teenage girls between 2018 and 2021, Fox 32 reported. The station reported that details of the assaults came to light during a Chicago Police Department lock-in at the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center on the west side of the city.
"While CPS (Chicago Public Schools) does not comment on specific personnel matters or active investigations, the District follows a consistent process when allegations of misconduct are reported," a statement from CPS to Fox 32 stated. "Employees found to have violated Board policy are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination."
CWBChicago reported that one of the girls was 15 when the alleged abuse began in 2018. According to the website, prosecutors have said the student was lured to the home under the pretense of helping Pancer care for her ailing husband and her son, who has autism.
CWBChicago reported that, according to prosecutors, Prancer kissed the girl after carving pumpkins. On another visit, the girl was taken into the basement where abuse occurred while Prancer's husband was lying immobile on a couch. The website reported that incidents of abuse continued to happen for several months, according to prosecutors.
Fox 32 reported that the other victim said she was abused between February 2019 and February 2021. The girl was between 16 and 17 at the time, and the abuse included Pancer penetrating her vagina with her fingers and mouth.
Pancer faces two felony counts of criminal sexual assault. She remains in custody with her next court date set for Nov. 5.
