An Ohio man was charged with murder after allegedly smashing a 5-month-old girl's skull.

Glenn McIntosh, 32, had been dating the girl's mother for a few months. On October 13, McIntosh was home alone with 5-month-old Ameira Reynolds while her mother was out with her two other children, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

The newspaper said the woman was gone for about an hour, and when she returned, McIntosh left almost as soon as she arrived. The woman assumed Ameira was asleep, but when she checked on the child, she found her unconscious, limp, and unresponsive.

The newspaper reported that the woman rushed the child to a hospital where a CAT scan revealed multiple skull fractures. The woman then began frantically texting McIntosh who told her the child had fallen.

According to the newspaper, the woman wrote McIntosh: "You asked me to trust you and I trusted you with my baby, and you took her from me. You killed my baby girl. My baby didn't deserve that. I can't imagine what you put her through."

ABC-6 reported that McIntosh was issued a $2 million cash surety bond with a condition to stay away from the victim's family.

The station reported the prosecutors shared a statement from child's mother during a hearing: "I don't deserve to have to bury my five month old baby. I can't believe I let my guard down and trusted you. You hurt her and let her suffer. A baby, a defenseless baby. How dare you. You are a monster, and you will reap what you sow."
