Two Texas men face murder charges after firing numerous rounds into a home, leading police to say it looked like a piece of "Swiss cheese."
On September 26, police arrested Bryan Salazar, 20, in the May 2024 shooting that claimed the life of 4-year-old Maryann Marble. Four other family members were injured in the shooting.
Fox 29 reported that, according to police, Salazar and Isaiah Perales drove up in a stolen gray Infiniti Q50 and opened fire with assault rifles. Police believe the pair fired at least 20 to 25 shots into the home.
Perales was apprehended earlier this year. Police charged both of them with capital murder, injury to a child, and aggravated assault in a mass shooting.
"This is a case we'll never forget. Five members of a family were all shot, and Maryann unfortunately lost her life almost instantly after being shot in the head," Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told Fox 29.
Salazar also told the station that "The front door had so many bullet holes that it looked like Swiss cheese."
Fox 29 reported the police believe the shooting was planned and targeted. Two weeks before the shooting Xavier Perez, a relative of Salazar's, was shot and killed. After that incident.
"This was a calculated act," Salazar told Fox 29. "They stole the car, they conducted surveillance, and then carried out the shooting."
Fox 29 reported that the case file is now more than 400 pages long and the investigation continues.
"Although the main suspects are in custody, investigators continue to work the case until justice is served for the innocent life that was lost in this case — Maryann Marble," police said.
