A Minnesota woman tried to shoot her neighbors because she believed the couple were murdering and raping people, according to an arrest affidavit.
Ava Leone Kock, 64, faces several charges, including attempted murder, after she sprayed her neighbor's Jeep with gunfire as the woman pulled into her driveway around 10 p.m. Aug. 12. The victim was wounded in the eye and head by shrapnel as the Jeep was pelted with seven shots, court documents state. She was hospitalized with a brain bleed caused by her injuries.
Kock eventually admitted to the shooting, telling investigators that victim and her husband were "murdering and raping people." Kock told investigators that she "heard them digging graves in the basement of their apartment and believes he has people and kids buried there." Kock said she had to do something because the justice system had taken no action.

According to the arrest affidavit, on the night of the shooting, Kock retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from a storage shed, and then prayed for good aim: "guide my bullets like you guided David's rock."
She then fired seven rounds because she told investigators that the number seven is repeatedly referenced in the Bible, the affidavit states. Kock fired from a bathroom window because it provided a good line of sight to her neighbor's driveway, firing through the window screen, which later helped investigators figure out where the shots came from.
Kock was arrested, taken to Winona County Jail, and was being held on $500,000 bond.
