
A second man has been charged in what prosecutors said was an antisemitic attack in San Francisco.
Alejandro Flores-Lamas was charged on June 20 with two counts of assault and a hate crime, prosecutors said. Previously, Juan Diaz-Rivas, 36 was charged in the assault. Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Alana Gans 28, was sitting with a friend in the Marina District on June 14 waiting for a cab when a men chanting "F--- the Jews, Free Palestine" approached, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The newspaper reported that Gans told the man she was Jewish and asked him to leave.
Instead, he approached her and said "F--- you!" According to the Chronicle, Gans' friend got between her and the man as other people in the group of began recording the incident on their phones yelling "F--- Jews!"
According to Fox News, when Gans and her friend attempted to leave, the group began to follow them. The station reported that Gans' friend was then hit in the head, lost consciousness, and then kicked and punched while he was on the ground.
The Chronicle reported that Gans was also knocked down in the assault but not injured.
Fox reported that an employee from a nearby business heard the antisemitic language, saw the assault, and attempted to intervene. He also was attacked by the group.
Gans told the Chronicle that the attack lasted about 30 seconds before the men ran away yelling "F--- those Jews!"
