
A Pennsylvania man who had been served divorce papers just a few hours earlier shot and killed his elderly in-laws, police said.
Xiaomin Fei, 34, allegedly shot Robert Ackerman, 74, a retired East Stroudsburg University professor, and Gretchen Ackerman, 75 to death Tuesday night, The Morning Call reported.
The outlet reported that shouting and children crying could be heard during a 911 call. "Think about what you are doing," a man says. "I'm not thinking," was the response.
In a second 911 call a woman says that he husband has a gun and plans to shoot her and her children, The Morning Call reported.
Police said that they arrived at the home around 7 p.m. on June 3. When they arrived, they found a man, later identified as Fei, standing near the open front door, holding a gun. After several verbal commands, Fei dropped the gun and surrendered.
Police said in searching the home, they found the dead bodies of Gretchen and Robert Ackerman. They also found two young children unharmed and secured in another room. Fei faces several charges including criminal homicide and burglary.
Quoting court documents, The Morning Call reported that Fei told police he was upset after his wife served him divorce papers Tuesday morning. Fei went and bought a gun and ammunition around 5 p.m., went to his in-laws' home, and broke in using a hammer.
