A Chicago woman who police say stabbed the wrists of her three children did so because she didn't have any help raising them, according to reports.
Aurionah-Rakii-Karie Parker-White, 23, allegedly stabbed her 1-year-old daughter and her two sons, ages 3 and 5 on May 28, NBC 5 reported. The oldest child told hospital staff that his mom "was going to make them go to heaven."
Parker-White was charged May 30 with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery to a child, the station reported.
The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. Neighbor Devaughen Stringfellow told CBS Chicago that he went to help when he heard Parker-White screaming.
"She kept screaming like: 'I need help! Help me! My baby! I called the police! They didn't come!'" Stringfellow told CBS Chicago. The station reported that Stringfellow then drove the Parker-White and the children to a hospital.
According to NBC 5, video footage shows Parker-White admitting to stabbing the children and saying she wanted to kill herself and the children. The station reported that she also said that she was raising the children alone and was stressed.
The station quoted police reports as stating that hospital staff told police that Parker-White "did it because she had no help."
Stringfellow told NBC that in the aftermath of the incident, the oldest boy attempted to comfort his mother.
"This is what's messing me up because I can't get this out my head," Stringfellow told the station.
