Colorado police hope a $12,000 reward will help them solve the mystery of who murdered a couple and why.

In February, Kendra Anderson, 58, and her husband Chad, 55, were killed in their Thornton, Colorado home, CBS News reported. The network reported that the couple died of gunshot wounds. Also, after the couple was killed, someone attempted to start a fire at the residence in an effort to conceal the crime.

The couple's bodies were found when firefighters responded to the home.

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers has offered the monetary award in the hope that someone will come forward with information on the case. CBS reported that the money was donated by an anonymous donor.

According to Kendra Anderson's obituary, the couple's two dogs were also killed. Kendra worked in human resources for Medtronic, while Chad worked in the same field at CenturyLink.

"Together, they built a life rooted in their deep Christian faith, which guided them as devoted members and servants of Flatirons Community Church and as pillars of their community," the obituary states.

"Above all, they were the most loving parents to their two sons," it states. "Their home was a haven of warmth, filled with laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support."
