A North Carolina man accused of killing a father of three in a road rage instance in front of his daughters asked to be released from jail on bond, only to be quickly denied.

Terrell Eugene Giddens, 75, asked to be released on bail with his attorney citing Giddens "significant ties to the community," Fox News reported. Giddens is accused of gunning down Jeffrey Michael Guida, 40, in October 2024 in a fit of road rage. Giddens is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Guida and Giddens had each gotten out of their vehicles at the time of the shooting. The Charlotte Observer reported that Guida died just outside the driver-side door of his Jeep Wagoneer and witnesses told police that Giddens kept shooting at Guida after he was down.

The shooting happened in front of Guida's three daughters, who were in the vehicle at the time. After killing Guida, police allege that Giddens then sprayed some rounds into the vehicle that contained the girls ages 2, 11 and 13, Fox News reported. None of the girls were injured.

Giddens request was considered Tuesday morning. The Charlotte Observer reported that Judge Donald Cureton took seconds to reject it and ordered Giddens held without bond.

"I believe this is one of the clearest examples of the danger of a defendant potentially to others that I have ever seen," the newspaper quoted Cuerton.

Before Cuerton's ruling, Giddens attorney asked for a bond "in the $350,000 range," noting that Giddens hoped to live with his girlfriend in a different county, the Charlotte Observer reported.

The newspaper reported that prosecutors described the killing as a cold-blooded act of violence in opposing any bond.

"It was more of an execution," Tim Gould, Catawba County chief assistant district attorney said, according to the newspaper. "Cold-blooded, calculated, malicious. He was not afraid of Jeff Guida. He decided to kill him because he was mad."
