An Amish man in Ohio has been arrested in the murder of his neighbor months after her body was discovered, police said.
Samuel Hochstetler, 18, was charged this week in the March death of Rosanna Kinsinger, 28. Kinsinger's body was discovered by Mose Troyer, who also lives in the Amish community and who told WSAZ that Hochstetler was originally from Kentucky and had been staying with him for a few months.
Troyer told the station that on March 13 people in the community noticed that they had not seen Kinsinger for a while, so he went to check on her at the end of the day, finding her body along with a goat inside the home. Troyer called 911.
Police said they arrived on the scene, and the death was ruled suspicious and launched an investigation. Over the next several weeks, police executed search warrants, conducted interviews, and processed evidence collected from the scene.
Hochstetler was eventually identified as a person of interest in the case and on May 5 police detained him and conducted an interview. After the interview, Hochstetler was arrested and charged with Kinsinger's murder.
"This case was such a tragedy to those who knew Rosanna. She was a beloved individual in her community." Meigs County Sheriff Scott Fitch said. "Detectives have worked around the clock searching for answers and were able to get those answers. Hopefully this investigation helps bring some closure to the victim's family and on behalf of the Sheriff's Office we offer our deepest condolences."
