A teenage girl in New Mexico awoke to find her father shot to death and his accused killer still in her home.

Police allege that Seth Stevenson, 42, shot and killed 48-year-old Walter Scott after a night of drinking and ketamine use, KOB-4 reported.

The station reported that Scott had friends over at his house on Saturday. One friend told police he left around midnight but that Scott and Stevenson were still hanging out.

The 13-year-girl told police that she awoke around 4:45 a.m. after hearing a loud thump and a bang, the Albuquerque Journal reported . She got up and found her father unconscious, with blood coming from his head. She told police that Stevenson was in the kitchen, and when he saw her, he began throwing things at her.

The newspaper reported that the girl told police that Stevenson tried to take her phone away while she was calling the police, forced his way into her room, and grabbed her wrists. The newspaper quoted a criminal complaint as saying the girl can be heard on the 911 call sobbing and saying: "Get off me." "Leave the house." "He's assaulting me."

Stevenson is charged with an open count of murder, child abuse, and criminal damage in the fatal shooting, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
