A Hungarian man who overstayed his Visa and was detained and released by ICE murdered two people while on the run, according to Florida police.

Zsolt Zsolyomi, 26, pled not guilty this week to murdering two men. In both cases, police say he tried to make the deaths accidental, the Miami Herald reported.

Prosecutors assert that Zsolyomi murdered Carlos Alonso Villaquiran, 66 in November 2024 in Miami Beach. In that case, the victim was found face down in six inches of bath water, the Miami Herald reported. In January 2025, Miami resident Rodolfo Fernandez de Velasco, 71, was found dead in his car with a seatbelt wrapped around his neck.

Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones called Zsolyomi "The epitome of evil" according to the Washington Post. "He hunts his prey, and he's patient with his prey, and then he kills them."

Both killings happened after ICE picked up Zsolyomi and let him go with a GPS ankle bracelet monitor. He had come to the U.S. in 2022 on a 90-day Visa. He overstayed the Visa, and came to the attention of authorities after a theft case in April 2024, the Miami Herald reported.

Later, in July 2024, police allege that he committed a strong-arm robbery. After that arrest, police transferred Zsolyomi to ICE, and he was to be deported. ICE then released him with a GPS ankle monitor while he awaited deportation, the Washington Post reported. Two weeks later, Zsolyomi ditched the ankle monitor and disappeared. He would not be located again until he was identified as a suspect in Villaquiran's murder.

The newspaper reported that Zsolyomi was in a relationship with Villaquiran. Text messages between the men indicated that Villaquiran had accused Zsolyomi of stealing from him and of beating him, the Washginton Post reported.
