An Oklahoma woman faces criminal charges after her 4-month-old died with several broken bones and a severe brain injury.

Tulsa County prosecutors have charged Savawna Bowen with child neglect saying she knew the baby was hurt but waited days before taking her to a doctor or hospital, News on 6 reported.

Previously the baby's father, Daquan White, was charged with murder and child abuse. The TV station reported that the 4-month-old baby had a broken jaw, broken ribs, a broken femur, and a brain injury when it was taken to a hospital in January 2024.

The couple reportedly searched for "baby's femur is sticking out" and "newborn not being able to move his mouth" before taking the baby to the hospital, according to News on 6. The station provided a timeline of internet searches based on court documents:

  • January 3, 2024: Police say Bowen searched "popped leg"
  • January 4, 2024: She searched "baby's femur is sticking out."
  • January 7, 2024: She searched "baby not able to move mouth" and "mouth swollen."

News on 6 also reported that a doctor told police might have lived if brought to the hospital sooner.

The baby, Xylon Adams, died three days after being admitted to a hospital, reported ABC-8. The station reported that police determined that the original information about where and when the child was injured was not accurate.
