A Texas woman who faked cancer to get people to "like her more" was sentenced to felony probation.

Emily Joyce Hinojosa, 38, collected more than $7,000 from a GoFundMe fund that was set up by a person who believed her lies, KWTX 10 reported.

Judge Steve Duskie sentenced Hinojosa to felony probation for five years after she pled guilty to two counts of felony theft of property. Hinojosa also must pay back the money she took, the TV station reported.

An arrest affidavit states that Hinojosa told police she "has a problem with making up stories about her medical health to gain sympathy from her friends so they would like her more," reported WTVG 13.

The GoFundMe page stated that Hinojosa had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and that she had been battling the "hideous disease for 9 years." The page continued, "This is the biggest fight thus far for their family. Emily's contagious smile and enormous heart makes it a blessing to know her. We are all searching for ways to help the Hinojosa family."

The page also states that the fundraiser will pay for "Emily's medical expenses, travel expenses, and the loss of her income during this time."
