Human Remains Found Inside Burned Vehicle In Massachusetts

An investigation is underway after human remains were discovered inside a burning vehicle early Monday in Massachusetts, authorities said.

On Monday morning, a 911 caller reported finding a burned vehicle in the area of Quaker Meeting House Road in the town of Sandwich, Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois announced in a statement.

First responders found human remains inside the burned vehicle. The Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Cape and Islands DA's Office and the Sandwich Police Department are investigating.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released. The DA's office said preliminary investigation indicates "there is no threat to public safety." The investigation is ongoing.
