A Florida woman accused of killing her young twin children, and then attempting suicide because of dire financial straits is now only facing manslaughter charges.

Shirlene Alcime, 42, pled not guilty to two charges of aggravated manslaughter on Friday after being brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair, according to WLPG and NBC 6.

Alcime jumped off the I-95 overpass as police were responding to a call for a medical emergency on the bridge at around 2 a.m. on Febraury 2. Her twin children, Milendhet and Milenhere G. Napoleon-Cadet, were found unresponsive in her car, foaming at the mouth.

In early August, Miami-Dade County police said they intended to file formal murder charges after the medical examiner determined that the cause of death of the children was homicide. However, Toxiciology reports were not able to confirm why the children were foaming at the mouth, according to NBC 6.

Her charges accuse her of killing the twins by "unspecified means," the outlet reported.

According to an arrest report obtained by NBC 6, Alcime admitted to plotting to kill her children and herself for months because of her "current financial status and multiple debts." On Feb 1, she drove around with the twins looking for an overpass to jump from before deciding on I-95, where she "contemplated jumping off the bridge with both victims or throwing them off one by one and then jumping."
