Justin Bieber is being sued for defamation after posting negative statements about "Team Production", a Montreal promotional company via social media accounts. He is also charged with $650,000 to pay the damages he made.
According to Montreal Gazette, "Team Production", a Montreal promotional company sues Justin Bieber for defamation. They are also seeking $500,000 in lost earnings, $100,000 for ruining the company's reputation, and $50,000 in punitive damages.
This is because Bieber announced that he is cancelling his live performance on Montreal's Beach Club in response to the "Team Production" remarks. Bieber then stated via his official Twitter account, "Montreal due to the promoter of today's event breaking his contract and lying I will not be able to attend today's event. I look forward to coming back to Montreal in the future to do a proper show but I will not be able to attend 2 day due to this breach", Sugar Scape has cited.
The 22-year-old Canadian singer and songwriter and the concert promoters agreed to pay $250,075 at signing and $175,000 five days before the travel date. As a part of the deal, Bieber agreed to promote the upcoming event via his social media accounts.
After settling the initial payment, the court documents claimed that "Team Production" expressed some concern that Bieber wasn't promoting or publicizing the upcoming concert as agreed and initiated discussions for a discount. As a result, Bieber cancelled the show and called out the promotional company via social media, NY Daily News has learned.
Justin Bieber and "Team Production" made a deal where Bieber would have a live performance at a Canada's beach club last August 22, 2015 and promote the said event on his social media accounts. "Team Production" stated that they fear he [Bieber] will not live up to his end of bargain and wanted to renegotiate the deal.
