The U.S. military obtained new video of the American prisoner of war Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl who was seized in Afghanistan in June, 2009, CNN reported. Bergdahl, a native of Wood Valley Idaho, is believed to be held captive by the Taliban-aligned Haqqani network in Pakistan. He has spent almost five years in captivity, and "the so-called proof-of-life video, the first of him in nearly three years, has a reference to December 14, 2013."

33-year-old Conor Guckian, who used $20,000 in cash to charter a private plane from Nashville to California, "was arrested on money laundering charges after an airport police dog smelled narcotics on $153,000 stuffed into his suitcase, according to a police affidavit released Tuesday," as reported by Reuters. Airport police were alerted to the "suspicious individual."

The trial began Wednesday of four men charged in connection with the deadly assault and three-day siege at Kenya's Westgate mall in September, in which Somalia's Al-Qaeda linked al Shabaab militants killed 67 people. The men on trial are not accused of actually carrying out the attack, but for serving as accomplices to the terrorists.
