Charges May Be Reduced In Recorded Bikers' Assault Of NYC SUV Driver Alexian Lien (Video)

Charges are likely to be reduced against bikers who were arrested and charged in connection with the beating of Alexian Lien, an SUV driver, CNN reported. Lien had been was chased after he initially bumped one during a biker rally. Prosecutors said last Friday that charges will likely be reduced on the next court date because of the lack of a serious physical injury, according to the Manhattan District Attorney spokeswoman.

The court appearances are scheduled for February 27 and 28.

"The reduced felony - attempted assault and attempted gang assault charges - hold a penalty of five to15 years - the original charge holds a penalty of eight to 25 years, the spokeswoman said," CNN reported.

When Lien's Range Rover "was surrounded by several bikers, [he] called 911, told police he feared for his life and drove off, running over bikers and critically injuring one. Lien's wife and 2-year-old daughter were in the vehicle with him. That that followed ended in traffic... Lien's windows were smashed, he was dragged out of the SUV and beaten. He was treated and released from a hospital. He has not been charged," CNN also reported.

Eleven people were indicted in the attack, including undercover police officers.

The potential reduced charges may be announced in February even though "Lien needed stitches after being beaten by the bikers, while the man he ran over suffered a broken spine and two broken legs and may never walk again," as reported by The Star Ledger.

"Alexian Lien said nothing Saturday as he left his Manhattan home with his young daughter, who witnessed him being brutally beaten in the violent Sept. 29 attack," the New York Post reported.
