'World War Z 2' News: Paramount on search for new director; Director Bayona quits as Brad Pitt reprises role

Paramount reported that director Juan Antonio Bayona will not be able to direct World War Z 2.  The studio stressed that it is their ambition to do World War 2 this year and Director Bayona was attached to direct other movies. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt was reported to reprise his role.

BBC News reported that Director Bayona signed up to the project in 2013 but is also directing Sigourney Weaver and Liam Neeson's new fantasy film entitled A Monster Calls. The film is to be released on October 14. Paramount Pictures said that because of Bayona's pre-existing film commitments, he will not be able to make World War Z 2 this year. 

Many of the fans all over the world felt disappointed with the news since director Bayona created a zombie film that is different from the rest. His cinematic style is brooding and at the same time packed with adrenaline. While other zombie films feature a lot of clichés, World War Z boasts a different flavor. It's thrilling and at the same time affecting. It elevated the popular culture of zombie films into another level.

The first World War Z film was a successful blockbuster hit. It earned $540 million in worldwide box office and had fans wanting for the sequel the soonest time possible. Screen Rant reported that Brad Pitt contributed to the success of the first film and was said to be enough to spark discussions of World War Z 2.

Screen Rant also reported that the script will be written by Dennis Kelly, famous for his script Utopia. While director Juan Antonio Bayona exited the project, the plot of World War Z is smooth enough for other potential directors to practice and apply their creativeness without considering too many details.

Max Brooks penned the novel World War Z and was considered as a bestseller. The complete title of the said book was World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Fans of the bestselling books were surprised that although the film shared a title and setting of the source material, the storyline of the movie features a mostly fresh sets of characters and events.

Steven Knight, the film's original scriptwriter said that he started with a clean slate on the project. Whoever will be the director of World War Z 2, fans are going to watch the film and will still become a massive blockbuster hit worldwide. Paramount Pictures plans to release the World War Z 2 in the US on June 9, 2017.
