U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Richard Hoagland, was summoned today to the Foreign Ministry, where he was warned by officials that the U.S. drone strikes were crossing Pakistani red-lines.The call came after news was broken that the second in command al Qaida leader was struck with a Drone in today’s firing that also killed about 12 others.
With over 200 prospective jurors the Sandusky case moves forward with the first phase of jury selection for the trial today. If all 12 jurors and alternates are selected in time, the trial will begin as soon as June 11.
Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik is suspended Monday over charges of dual citizenship. Malik has been removed from the Upper House of Parliament (i.e. the Senate) and therefore by de-facto loses his position as interior minister
Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced late Monday afternoon that he supports New York Governor, Andrew M. Cuomo’s bid to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, which has resulted in a huge number of arrests particularly in the minority communities. The New York Police Department as well as top prosecutors have also voiced support for the legislation.
