A 21-year-old old who entered Columbia University with a full scholarship and a bright future was found dead of a possible overdose in a dorm room on Sunday. Jessica Fingers, a former track star at Monticello High School, had taken a leave of absence from the university last spring but was reportedly staying with a female friend and visiting her boyfriend, who are both current Columbia students.
Arapahoe County District Attorney George Brauchler announced his team will seek the death penalty against James Holmes, accused of shooting 70 people, killing 12 during a midnight screening in Aurora Colorado.
Ohio police said that Reshad Riddle killed his father, Richard with a single shot from a handgun on Sunday afternoon at the Hawatha Church of God in Crist in the city of Ashtabula after an Easter service on Sunday. The 25-year-old son reportedly was yelling about God and Allah after the killing.
Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia were found with fatal gunshot wounds at their home near the town of Forey Texas on Saturday. The fatalities do not appear random, as the killings occurred in the same county where an assistant prosecutor was also shot dead outside a courthouse in January. Two months ago, Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, DA McLelland's colleague was gunned down.
