The military judge Colonel Denise Lind who is overseeing the court-martial of Pfc. Bradley Manning denied defense motions seeking to throw out two charges against him, including the most serious one of aiding the enemy. That charge would carry a maximum penalty of life in prison. Colonel Lind said the government had met the burden to present evidence that the crimes had been committed.
A body believed to be that of Stephen Rakes, a key witness in the trial of alleged Boston mobster James 'Whitey' Bulger has been found dead, authorities confirmed Thursday. Rakes, who accused Bulger of extorting him out of of his liquor store was discovered in Lincoln Massachusetts
John Henry Spooner, a 76-year-old Milwaukee Wisconsin man, was convicted on Wednesday of fatally shooting his 13-year-old neighbor whom he suspected had broken into his home and stole his weapons.
