Lawyers from Europe issued a letter to policy makers in the European Union and its member states to cease economic trade with Israeli settlements in the West Bank, citing said trade as an implicit recognition of Israeli occupation on Palestine territory. They urged that the non-recognition of the Israeli settlements would strengthen the peace process in the Middle East while adhering respect of international law.

Guam Governor Eddie Calvo has appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn a federal court's ruling that the U.S. territory pay tax refunds no later than six months after the deadline. Calvo and his lawyers have said that the federal court's ruling calls into question the time-honored relationship between the United States and Guam, whose sovereignty it has recognized.

Florida's 4th District Court of Appeal reverses a previous ruling by Judge Jack Schramm Cox that ordered the Palm Beach Post to take down from its website previously published online material that may be critical to the case of jailhouse informant Frederick Cobia. The reversal was deemed a triumph for the freedom of the press by many legal experts.
