One suspect is in custody in connection with a deadly mass shooting at a Georgia high school Wednesday morning.

Colt Gray, a 14-year old student at the high school has been identified as the shooter.

"He gave up, got on the ground, and the deputy took him into custody," Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said at a press conference Wednesday.

At least four people were killed and nine others injured in the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia – about 50 miles outside of Atlanta, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed, per CNN.

The conditions of the survivors remain unclear and a motive remains under investigation.

"I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state," Gov. Brian Kemp said in a statement. "We will continue to work with local, state, and federal partners as we gather information and further respond to this situation."

According to U.S. News & World Report, approximately 1,900 students attend Apalachee High.
