New Lawsuit Arises In Drake's Years-Long Legal Battle

Drake is one of the most popular hip hop artists in the scene and undoubtedly makes a lot off of his hard work. With revenue pouring in from dozens of places, Drake wrapped up the title for "highest grossing rap tour of all time".

According to FORBES, the star's net worth is around $60 million. But, all this success does not come cheap and in recent advances a decade old legal battle involving the earnings of the singer has resurfaced.

Drake's career is one of a complicated nature and his rap rivals have fed off of it in explicit lyrics. The complications arose from when Drake was discovered from MySpace. Jas Prince, son of James "J" Prince wanted to sign Drake to Lil Wayne's record company and asked help from Wayne's manager Cortez
"Tez" Bryant.

The little deal involved Prince and Bryant splitting profits from the signing. However, Bryant went behind his back and created a brand new record company called Aspire Music Group. He then signed Drake himself, making Drake the only artist of the company. Bryant later signed Drake to Wayne's Young Money Records as well as Cash Money Records, the parent company.

When Drake's fame skyrocketed Prince felt like he wasn't getting the better end of the deal so he decided to form a new one. All these plans fell to nothing when Drake fired Bryant and Roberson and moves onto a new manager, Oliver El-Khatib, in 2011.

This turn of events led to Prince suing Aspire in 2012. Prince said that Bryant as well as his partners did not "honor" their end of the deal. The legal battle dragged on for years until mid-2016 when 0 a confidential agreement was reached to settle for $11 million.

Now, last week Aspire sued Cash Money for breaching the contract. The Aspire founders claim that Cash Money is not providing the "full accounting" of the revenue generated from Drake. They accused the label of using "stall tactics" to avoid producing the full cash.

As for Drake, he seems to not let any of these legal issues affect him or his career. He is already on to his next project titled "More Life".
