ObamaCare: Government Shutdown Looms as Tea Party Republicans Eye to Defund U.S. President's HealthCare Law (Video)

Tea Party Republicans are bringing forward a bill that would make funding the government conditional on de-funding President Obama's 2010 healthcare law, Fox News reported. This move is seen as a major victory for the Heritage Action PAC, and its group's leader Senator Jim DeMint. The animosity in Washington is so bad, a government shutdown may be pending as a result of this action.

"The law's a train wreck. It's time to protect American families from this unworkable law," House Speaker John Boehner said.

Republican leaders unveiled their plan to members on Wednesday morning, news reports said. "Current funding for the government is set to expire at the end of the month, and lawmakers must approve the stopgap in order to keep Washington open," Fox News said.

This move by the GOP goes against a potential compromise that earlier tried to sell to "rank-and-file conservatives," in which they would have tried to send two bills to the Senate; one would defund ObamaCare and the other would fund the government. That plan would have enable the Senate to easily bypass the ObamaCare bill, while sending the measure straight to the White House, and averting a potential shutdown in Washington.

"We're hearing that a certain faction of Republicans, in the House of Representatives in particular are arguing for government shutdown or even a default for the United States of America ... if they don't get 100 percent of what they want," Obama responded.

Government funding runs out at midnight on Sept. 30.
