School Aide Volunteer Faces Federal Charges Over Child Pornography and Child Sex Offenses

A school aide has been indicted on Monday over child pornography charges. The said volunteer school aide is also charged with child sex abuse and could be sentenced with life imprisonment.

Deonte Carraway, 22 years old is indicted by the grand jury with 13 counts of federal charges, which involves 11 victims, from ages 9 to 12 years old, according to Big Story. Carraway could also face life imprisonment if convicted to the said charges. Each of the federal child pornography charges against Carraway carries a 15 years sentence minimum.

According to the court documents, the children were coerced by Carraway into sexual activities in order to film them, Washington's Top News reported. The video also showed him "engaging on sex acts" with the child victims, while the children were also shown engaging in sexual behaviors with each other.

Carraway was a volunteer school aide in Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Glenarden. Most of his victims were from the community children's choir he led. He is also facing additional charges of sex offenses in Prince George's County, where he was also a former school aide volunteer there.

On February 5, Carraway was arrested by the authorities. The uncle of a 9 year old boy reported him to the police after he saw a nude photo on the boy's phone, NBC News reported. Carraway eventually admitted on producing child pornography.

On his affidavit, he stated, "Yes, I have videos, and yes you will find some on my orange phone, basically the same ones. How I get the videos is the kids would send them in the chat. I would hide them, but I really do care for the children," Carraway said. He also admitted that he was wrong and was a "bad person". Carraway added on his statement, he was no child of God of doing the said crime.

Some of the child victim's parents have alleged in lawsuits that he was given "unrestricted access" to students at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Glenarden, Maryland. The lawsuits stated that the principal was warned about Carraway's conduct, however it didn't report to the authorities.
