Migrants and relatives might have hard time entering Germany as asylum rules tighten

After welcoming a number of migrants, Germany coalition made a deal wherein there will be another method on handling the migrants flow. As a result from this coalition, Syrians may have a hard time bringing their relatives and families to Germany.

German coalition have struck a new deal regarding the asylum rules in the country as reported in DW. The report was based from statements of Deputy Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel where there is a compromise of changes in asylum laws especially in deportation. Gabriel detailed that the deal focuses on bringing families and relatives to Germany which would be harder process from now. He added that in the future, 2-year waiting time is being implemented before introducing the migrant's family to Germany.

The news will only apply to migrants who qualify for a certain label as written by Yahoo. In their article, every migrant under "subsidiary protection" are going to qualify under this new measure of blocking family members into entering Germany. The status is effective to the refugees who were rejected asylum seekers but cannot be expelled from the country due to the risk of death or torture in their original country. Moreover, some Syrians who were enjoying the leisure of entering Germany is also expected to affect them.

Lastly, Germany also unveiled their plans to add certain countries to their list of safe countries. According to BBC, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia are now in the short list of countries wherein migrants couldn't enter Germany as it tries to curb their number of refugees. This would be due to the number of asylum seekers in Germany which went to more than 1.1 million and 430,000 among them are Syrians. Nonetheless, these are just the coalition proposals which are still in need to be approved by the government and parliament.

Germany is now going toward to apply "Asylum Package II" for future incoming migrants from unsafe countries. The package was introduced by Deputy Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel that indicates there would be a two years waiting period for family members of a migrant to enter the country. Moreover, the regulation include another list of safe countries wherein refugees seeking asylum from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia won't be granted one. The package is being discussed by government and parliament before it will be implemented.
