Nexus Phone Owners Complain of Google Syncing Issues

By

Nexus smartphone users have reported a number of syncing issues involving Google apps affecting handsets running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Users pinpointed certain Google apps, such as Inbox, Gmail, and Google Now exhibiting problems during the syncing process.

Complaints filed at the Nexus Help Forum included non-notification of new Gmail emails for hours at a time, Techno Buffalo reported. While other users reported that in comparison, their older Nexus 9 and OnePlus One units didn’t exhibit the same problem.

Nexus 6 phones installed with the latest Android mobile OS, 6.0 Marshmallow, were the only handsets reported to have syncing issues, delayed email notifications, and even missing alerts altogether, Android Police said.

The Android Issue Tracker forum has reported over 500 Nexus users seeking answers on their Google app syncing difficulties, and a number of users have suggested several workarounds to solve the technical setbacks.

Solutions included resetting Google accounts, wiping the handset’s cache, and flashing back to earlier Android Marshmallow builds and then applying the latest update.

The problem was first reported more than six weeks previously, with a growing number of users posting about their experience on the thread, according to GSM Arena.

Google is said to be already aware of the problem, with several Google representatives having acknowledge the issue with replies on the Android Issue Tracker thread.

The difficulties are said to stem from Android 6.0 Marshmallow’s Doze feature, with the power-saving app preventing Google apps’ notifications and alerts from reaching users.

A number of Nexus owners reported that while it helped to turn off the Doze feature on their phones, it only alleviated, but did not put an end to the syncing issue.

While it has been reported that the Santa Clara, California search giant is looking into the problem, there has since been no official information released as to the Google syncing fix.
