American Bar Association Will Provide Judicial Rating on Neil Gorsuch

Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary from the American Bar Association (ABA) is currently reviewing Judge Neil Gorsuch judicial ratings. Upon finalizing its review, the committee will share the result to the Senate.

President of the American Bar Association Linda Klein, as reported by ABA Journal, promised to share the rating with the Judiciary Committee of U.S. Senate that currently reviews the nomination of Judge Gorsuch as Supreme Court Judge. The Supreme Court Justice is a lifetime appointment, therefore every aspect of the nominee must be examined.

“It is only prudent to try to gather as much information as possible about the nominees,” Klein explained in her statement regarding the judicial rating of Judge Gorsuch.

U.S. Senate has scheduled the hearing on the nomination of Judge Gorsuch to begin on March 31, New York Times reported. Nomination of Judge Gorsuch is full of animosity from Democratic senators who still hold the grudge for Republicans refusal to accept nomination of Judge Merrick Garland. However, Democrat senators will find it hard to deny nomination of Judge Gorsuch because of his strong credentials.

The appointment of Supreme Court’s Judge is to fill in the vacant position left by the late Judge Antonin Scalia who passed away on Feb. 13 last year. President Obama nominated Judge Garland for the new judge in March 2016, but Republican senators refused to conduct hearing on his nomination.

From then on, the bad blood between Republicans and Democrats for the Supreme Court Justice began. Democrats accused Republicans to steal the seat for Garland to become the Supreme Court Justice. However, President Trump has a much better candidate than Garland in Judge Gorsuch.

Judge Gorsuch is the advocate of originalism and textualism interpretation of the Constitution. He is a consistent judge who uphold the U.S. Constitution and often nicknamed as “Baby Scalia.” Both Democrats and Republicans respect him for his stance.
